Hello, people!
I've got 34 minutes of internet remaining. Can't believe it cost £2 for the bloody stuff.
The weather has been great until today's blistering heat. Some lady on the tube (subway) said that it was 32 degrees! But yeah, for the most part it's been overcast or just pleasant sunshine.
I'm going to go souvenir shopping in a bit so I guess I'll just prattle on for a bit until my half hour is up.
London is crazy. Crossing the street is dangerous stuff and there are like 12 subway lines. It's all a bit overwhelming, but I think I've gotten used to it all now. And there's a great variety of people in London. Maybe a lot of them are tourists (who walk really freaking slowly), but I'm also seeing/hearing a lot of Londoners of all sorts of ethnicities. Oh and the prices of things are really good. We got a 2 litre bottle of Coke today for 79p and even if you translate into CAD, I'm sure it's less than home. The only things that seem to err on the side of expensive are restaurant meals.
The British have stupid money: pence, tuppence, 10 pence coins, 20 pence coins, 50 pence, and 1 & 2 pound coins. And the 20p pieces are heptagons... 7 sides, people!!
The air is really dirty here. When I blow my nose, it's all black gunk and I find myself coughing more than usual. The sights to see are also really far apart so my feet have been sore every day from walking. I don't get how some people walk around in heels or flats.
The fast food here sucks. French fries taste like cardboard and the buns on hamburgers are really big. The chips are also really thick and tough to bite. But they have some pretty reasonably priced sandwiches and wraps -- decent tasting healthy-ish food.
I do not like this keyboard I am on right now. The @ symbol has been switched with " which makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE. ' + shift should equal ", but now it equals @. The British are kind of stupid sometimes. They don't even mow the lawn at the nearby park (though where the palace begins, they do).
Anyhow, I'll tell you all about what I've done some other time. I don't think a lot of it would be interesting to many people (unless they were as latently obsessed with British royal families as I am) or unless you were to actually endure the horrid 9 hour flight and come to London yourself.
And as much as I like the history and good prices in London, I don't really fancy coming back any time soon. It's just a very dirty, crowded city, with lousy TV shows and stifling hot subway stations.
I can't stop myself from saying "skytrain station" when I refer to the tube stations to my mom and she keeps giving me weird looks.
