... is a frequent crossword answer in the 24hours paper. It is usually the answer to a clue concerning a "mixture" or "medley". And today my blog entry is somewhat of a hodgepodge -- as it often is -- of thoughts and observations from my day.

One of the trending topics on Twitter today was Kenneth Tong. Apparently he was a contestant on the UK version of Big Brother and now he's pushing this anorexia pill of his. He states that he in no way encourages anorexia, but rather "managed" anorexia. And of course, he's been getting backlash (from celebrities, no less!) for that. What a little twerp. His tweets include the following:

If your beautiful in your own way, am glad you appreciate yourself, cause that plus size garment can't breathe with your fat stretching it.

Been asked since I've established what Women should look like, what the perfect man should be like. I've a one word answer. Rich.

I wholeheartedly hope I put you off your Dinner. Look at yourself. You are a disgrace. That's why the Guy you like doesn't notice you.

Inner beauty is a myth. You are just fat. You are unloved. People look at you & are pleasant cause they feel sorry for you. Size Zero...

Thankful for this global opportunity to help girls all over the world know that to be skinny is to be perfect & to be fat is unacceptable.
I only have a few words to describe him right now: complete and utter asshat. Yes, obesity is a problem in certain countries and societies, but so is anorexia. What good is it being a size zero? Failing health in your later years? Looking like an emaciated sad sack of skin and bones? Being a pathetic follower of Kenneth Tong? There are plenty of successful, happy people who aren't a size zero. I'm not quite sure I even understand the point this guy is trying to make. Plus, my pet peeve alarm went off with his misuse of "your".

Today was overall a quiet day of reading because, good grief, I have a LOT of reading to catch up on. Apparently I was supposed to have started reading as soon as I had gotten my textbook before school had even started. Wow. Gee whiz. Anyhow, I took a few breaks from reading to catch the end of the Habs game and most of the Canucks game. I watched the Canucks game against the Red Wings on a live stream because the TV in my room is not in a sitting-at-desk-friendly position and someone in the chatbox during the stream posted a picture. Yes, that is Nicklas Lidstrom. Yes, he has a son that looks like Bieber. Lolwut. I swear to God, I did a doubletake and made sure that that wasn't Bieber when I first saw that picture.

And I have to say, Jimmy Howard was absolutely spectacular tonight. I'd say that based on his performance today, he totally deserved that win. And about Luongo and his theatrics? Eh, not so much.

I really really really need to focus tomorrow so I can finish my readings (ha-ha, not likely at this point) and prep my labs. Unfortunately this is the term of the labs. 3 of them, in fact. Oi.

As I was listening to Toto's "Africa" today in a bout of nostalgia, I remembered that this was my favourite song back when I was like 5. I even remember watching the music video on TV very very distinctly: the black and white colour scheme, the rain, the good-looking guys... My parents would even turn it up if it came on the radio in the car. Apparently I was very vocal about the music I liked back then. Funny how tastes can change in 15 years.
