Okay, firstly, I must explain my behaviour.
The whole reason why he jumped to go to the skating thing was to skate, because he has these new skates and his friends don't like to skate. When we found out that the GE Plaza/Robson Square one was closed, it was like the whole reason why he even tagged along was gone. So I felt like I owed him the opportunity to go skating because he only really jumped at the opportunity because really, you can't go skating by yourself.
Quick note: I wanted to smack him for being timid and anti-social. Though I guess I really should have tried harder... But we're such an awesome group, it's hard to bring in outsiders. D:
I dunno. It's 1am and I'm tired so bear with me and my nonsense lol. LONG POST IS LONG.
So the first thing we did was cross the street and hop on the 4 bus. We talked about random stuff. Something something Croatia, something something "Where exactly do you live?", something something "My parents are scared of crossing Main street". Yes, I'm serious. I've heard of such crazy people existing so it didn't really surprise me -- just an interesting tidbit, I suppose.
We got off the bus and walked maybe 5 blocks to the Kits rink. We talked about walking into plants (like the bush he almost walked into) and bats (I don't know how we got on that topic, but there was much arm flapping).
Once we got there, it was pretty full of little kids. We paid the $3.75 fee and put on our skates. While we were waiting to get onto the ice (slowass Zamboni!) he spotted some friends (or acquaintances?) who had just entered. He called them over and totally did not introduce me to them. They were 1 white guy and 2 short asian guys. I swear. Me in skates = taller than both of them. That's pretty fail. The 1 white friend kept looking at me like "uh, aren't you going to tell us who the hell this random asian girl is?". There's no accounting for ethics or politeness or social righteousness in the realm of jackasses, I suppose.
We skated for about a solid hour with no breaks. Sadly, I fell twice, one time required assistance getting up. GODDAMN, I WANTED TO PROVE MY CANADIAN-NESS BY NOT FALLING. But I guess it's understandable since it's been almost 4 years since I last skated. So he was skating around trying to be a showoff, but he wasn't much better than me. Ha! Teach you to try to do spinny-around things which result in epic failure. And we made fun of the little kids in hockey jerseys, especially this one kid in a Devils jersey with these huge overall/suspender things on. He was probably 5 years old or younger 'cause he was a total shrimp. But he totally got in our way and caused multiple accounts of tripping.
At 4pm, we got kicked off the ice for some minor hockey team to play and he tried to describe the stop where I would get off the 17 bus and end up near Robson Square-ish.
Today was a weird day.
Note to self: tie skates VERY tightly. And get hockey skates. DAMN TOEPICKS. D:<
I'm curious as to what MY REAL FRIENDS think. And I would love to know what you talked about at Red Robin's. :D
