Delusion-Elle

delusional, since 1991 *pew pew*

I've abandoned this blog for far too long (again) and we've hit that time of year again where everyone has problems writing down the date and people finally start to recover from their holidays hangover.

2011 was a very trying year. Thinking back to last January, I can honestly say that a lot has happened since then. The good things included finishing 2nd year (not with flying colours, but with a somewhat respectable GPA) and landing a co-op placement with a company focused on creating products that I would actually be passionate about. I became closer to my friends during the summer and had a great time with them every Monday night when we'd talk and jam out playing Guitar Hero. They are such good people. I could not ask for a better set of friends to genuinely care about me. Much love.

The bad was, simply put, bad. I let my heart get away from me for a few months, and even now, almost half a year later, I'm still trying to get a complete hold of it again. My cat passed away, and even as I type this, I feel the tears spring to my eyes. He was a fantastic cat. I won't say that he was better than my last, but he was mine and I loved him -- still do. I miss him every day. Every time I remember him and how loyal and gentle he was, I miss him like crazy. The only solace I can get out of this is that he's in a better place with Grizz and my grandpa and they're all waiting for me. And I know that they all love me and they will wait for me -- just like when they were here on Earth -- until the end of time if they have to. They're watching over me and what keeps me going is just this weird belief I have that I am doing this all for them. I want to make them proud even though I know that no matter what happens, their love is unconditional.

Another tragedy to strike was the death of my math tutor, also the husband of my piano teacher. He and his wife had such a hand in raising me. They were truly good people, helping out with charities and fundraising, while still spending time with their family and teaching their students not just piano/math/etc., but also life lessons. He was so young, too -- not even 60 yet. I cannot even begin to imagine how his loved ones are coping with his passing. Only the good die young.

I want to end this post on a somewhat encouraging note, so I'll try to come up with some New Years Resolutions, or rather just a few small goals for myself this year:

  • Learn German up to a basic level following the BBC Languages guide
  • Lose 5 pounds
  • Stop being afraid to write more music
  • Do not lose myself in trying to please anyone else
  • Curb spending (especially with my credit card)
  • Read more books
  • Finish proofreading my NaNoWriMo from 2011 & order the physical copy
  • Don't fall for anyone
  • Don't compromise my own values and beliefs and comfort levels
  • Experience and live more
Love and peace. Hoping (and praying, literally) that 2012 turns out better than 2011!

Valentine's Day

So today was Valentine's Day, and I have to say that today I probably had the most enjoyable Valentine's Day of my short little life so far. No, I didn't have a hot date or anything, but I *did* get to hang out with probably my 3 closest friends. The day consisted of watching television (How I Met Your Mother & Jeopardy) and playing a few games of Pyramid that my friend made using PowerPoint. That was great fun. Lots of inside jokes were spawned from that.

Earlier in the day, I played a bit more Minecraft on my friend's server. I should've taken pictures of the insane detail put into the pyramid and Parthenon on his server, but unfortunately I didn't. And I died today so I'm allllllll the way back at the spawn point, which is very very far away from the fancy architectural stuff. Darn it.
In Minecraft-related news, my brother told me that Sweden's subway card may feature a creeper. The fact that the Obvious Troll-face is in the running just downright confuses me. I mean, yeah, we had some pretty crappy name ideas for our transit card, but having a creeper or Obvious Trollface on your transit card is just plain... weird. I'm not sure exactly how the creeper design is faring as a finalist as I am nowhere near fluent in Swedish (I swear to God, all I can decipher is "Here are"), but it seems to be doing well vote-wise. In conclusion: Sverige är strange (or whatever 'strange' is in Swedish).

I'm just going to finish this post with some picspam of the wand I got in Seattle the other day at the Harry Potter Exhibition. It's a replica of Hermione's wand and it actually feels rather weighty. My guess is that its made of epoxy.
 Smoosh desperately tries to play with it.
 Fun fact: Hermione's wand is about as long as my cat (minus the tail).
Here's the wand in its box with the little "official" card denoting its officialness. Oh and a cat.

My bed covers are messy, but oh well. Not like anyone cares~~~
For all you melancholy folks, have a Single's Awareness Valentine's Day song.

I've got a music theory exam in 8.5 hours and in 9.5 hours a music history quiz so I should get to bed now that I've gone through all the material once. And I'm going to stay late tomorrow (later than I already stay at school thanks to that 3:30PM course) to work on my Stats assignment which is due Friday. I haven't started. This should be fun.

I'm starting to wonder if it's the year of the goalie fights or something. Though both of them (occurring within 7 days of each other) have been pretty lame, I have to say. Today's was more of a dance than a fight.

~~~
I swear to God, you said all the right things. It's been a while since someone cared that much about my stupid life. Thank you. I love you as much as a straight girl can love another straight girl.
So I've neglected this blog for a few days, just trying to muddle my way through real life, but I'm back and more rambly than ever! And I come with links to interesting articles! And... pie? But you'll have to wade through the epic amounts of crap I blogged about in a fit of logorrhea.
Shopping.
Today, shopping was... fun.
I still can't believe that he spent $528 exactly (which included a $5.25 smoothie) in 3 hours.
Props to him.
Friends pt. 2
Firstly firstly firstly, thank you to my awesome girl friends who once again proved their worth. x) Just like gay guys, you girls always make me feel happy <3
I'm going to go shopping with my gay best friend tomorrow. Happy times, happy times. :)
So today's post (to make up for yesterday's oh so sexist post) will be dedicated to my guy friends.
Firstly, gay guy friends. They are the best. They're not catty, they don't have "hidden intentions", they have good fashion sense (SRSLY, THE BEST DRESSED HUMANS EVER), and for some reason, I can talk to them for ages. Girls are a great kind of friends, but there's something so special about gay guy friends. And they make me so happy. Something about how they deal with people hating on them, and yet they're still okay. And usually they're the people who walk through life, smiling and cheering everyone else up. Gay best friends everywhere deserve a salute and a BIG BIG hug.
I have to admit that I'm slightly scared about shopping with my gay best friend tomorrow. What if he expects a certain amount of "yay shopping"-ness from me and I'm not up to snuff? :( What if he wants to call off our friendship after hanging out with me for a day and realizing how not-as-awesome-as-a-gay-guy I am? I would be so sad. T___T OMFGI'MSONERVOUSABOUTTOMORROW.
Moving on.
In response to A.Ng's most recent (unless he's updated while I was writing this) post... I'm sorry. I wish I could've expressed my love for my guy friends in my last post, but I was just in a weird "GIRLS ARE FREAKING AWESOME" mood so I just couldn't do it. But that's not to say that my guy friends aren't awesome. They are a bunch of really, truly, genuinely good guys. I never feel uncomfortable around them. I feel safe and they are like my gay guy friends in that kind of way -- no hidden intentions or anything. What I love bestestestestestest about my guy friends is that when we hang out, we're just bros. It's a kind of friendship you can't really have with girl friends or with gay guy friends. It's just that honest, random kind of friendship that can be ridiculously silly at times, but at others, brings up totally deep or philosophical thoughts. I'm not saying that I don't do that with my girl or gay guy friends, but it's absolutely fascinating hearing things from a bro's point of view.
And writing all this up has made me realize something. Although I do kind of hate people/mankind/humans overall as a race, I love my friends. Yes, I am so lucky to have you all. Sometimes I think that I'm going to wake up one day and the joke will be on me and I'll just be the strange misfit girl who gets abandoned.
But I know you guys wouldn't do something like that. Right?! xP j/k
So yeah, I have some serious shopping to do tomorrow so I'm going to bed now.
Friends
Firstly, I have some awesomeness to share with you. Yes, it came to me by way of the Jackass, but THE CRAP ON THIS SITE IS SO AWESOME. I WANT TO BUY IT ALL.
Clicketh.
I was thinking last night, before I went to sleep. I was thinking about my friends.
Now, I don't want anyone to think that this is a post/entry meant to "suck up" to you guys ('cause we all know that I don't need to ;)) or to boost your self-confidence/esteem or anything. This is just me and my thoughts. They are honest. They are what I thought last night.
WARNING: I am sleep-deprived and punchy so I'm not in the mood to censor myself. This is my soul being poured out in a blog post. I won't think any less of you if you don't even bother reading the rest of this.
I feel very lucky: (in terms of my girl friends, most notably) I have the most beautiful people for friends. Okay, so that isn't including that godly level of hotness like Johnny Depp (I can't think of a female equivalent), but you guys girls are a very good-looking bunch of girls. And to top that, you are all insanely nice. Not just the basic 'oh she's a nice girl' sort of thing, but you guys are supportive, fiercely loyal, and you never push things beyond other people's boundaries. If you want me to personally give you a long diatribe of all your good points, just message me. For a generally pessimistic person, it's kinda strange, but for people, I have to admit that I try to focus on the good. Unless the person is a grade A turkey.
I think that you're all too good for me. You guys girls look good, you dress nicely, and you've all got great personalities. Who am I? I am Awkward McAwkwardson. I'm not pretty like you girls, I'm not a trendy dresser, and I don't have the sparkling personality of nice and awesomeness. I am acne-ridden (which I guess isn't really my fault, but still I hate it), mean, and annoying. I don't know how you guys gals put up with me. I could see if you're a geeky, white kid, desperate for friends, but none of you are.
But thing is that I don't feel awkward with you. Okay, well, if I'm feeling self-conscious about myself, I feel yucky, but I keep it to fleetingness. But no, I don't actually feel awkward with you guys. Which just re-affirms my "omg, these girls are AWESOME" belief.
And maybe PROBABLY I'm just going through a "feeling shitty" phase. But it made me appreciate you guys a lot lot lot. Or at least it made me express these appreciation and thankfulness openly.
I am honoured that I'm included in your circle of friends.
I AM NOT WORTHY. orz OTL
You guys are so QK. <3
OMFG
OH FECK YES!
I PASSED MY CPSC MIDTERM.
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
+ 50 points if you can tell me where that's from without google-ing
Sadly, even that reminds me of ... YA, IT CAME UP IN CONVERSATION STRANGELY. Don't ask. Please D:
Okay, so if I take the averages of my midterms...
(in rank of highest to lowest)
1. Physics
2. CPSC
3. Math
4. Chemistry
Et pour l'anglais, j'avais oublié what the approximate numerical values are for letter grades. It'd probably rank 1 or 2.
BUT WOW, CPSC. THAT REALLY MADE MY DAY EVEN BETTER. GIVES ME HOPE. <3
I also feel like today's Physucks lecture is worth mention because I cracked up sooooooo badly multiple times. x) My beloved Ninja/Moobs hater knows what I'm talking about, supposely. *thigh grab* ;)
And my super smart awesome fob friend is Fail Zhou's long lost daughter, but don't tell her 'cause--OHWAIT.
But she's still pretty awesome. She also said that I would die if I didn't marry her. D:
EDIT: OHOH, I remember what I wanted to blog about regarding Physics lecture fail! :D
"Metals" + heavy asian accent = "Meadows"
And meadows mean fairies and grass and trees and UNICORNS.
Makes me love Physics lectures. <3
Kind of. ;D
Derp derp.
I am so happy to have such great friends. :) Couldn't ask for anyone better.
I just want to thank everyone who's cared to listen, who's given up time to give a damn, who's at least pretended to experience the rollercoaster with me, who hasn't pushed me too hard, but just let me be. The confusion may still exist, but to be able to tell you guys and get my life back on track has really made me feel better (even if I'm still confused). At least the confusion's just going to take a backseat while I just try to get through wave two of midterms.
Again, thank you, guys! :) Best support system anyone can have. We may all be different, but we're still essentially human. Very nice humans, might I add. ;D
On a less sappy, ooey-gooey note, I'm done with Physucks and now I just gotta try and study CPSC.
Still gotta make my lunch for tomorrow, wash my hair, pack my laptop, and try to remember how to do titrations. D:
